
It was announced today that James Earl Jones has passed away at the age of 93.
Mr. Jones was born January 17th, 1931 in Arkabutla, Mississippi to Robert and Ruth Earl Jones.
In 1955, he would graduate from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in drama.
Mr. Jones had a long career on the stage and in movies. He was an accomplished Shakespearean actor, early in his career he starred a sOthello and King Lear, Oberon in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Abhorson in Measure for Measure, and Claudius in Hamlet.
On screen, he appeared in many movies, including Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb, The Comedians, Field of Dreams, and The Hunt for Red October to name a few.
He was also the voice of Darth Vader in Star Wars.
Amongst a number of awards he received during his career are two Primetime Emmy Awards, two Tony Awards, and a Grammy Award.
Mr. Jones passed away at his home in Pawling, New York, on September 9, 2024.
