Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice at the COC

I was able to attend the October 19th, 2025 performance of Christoph Willibald Gluck‘s Orfeo ed Euridice at the Canadian Opera Company (COC.)

The performance is a revival of Robert Carsen’s production from 2011, co-produced with Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Fondazione Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Opéra Royal Château de Versailles Spectacles, and Lyric Opera of Chicago.

The performance starred Iestyn Davies (Orfeo), Anna-Sophie Neher (Euridice), and Catherine St-Arnaud (Amore.) Bernard Labadie conducted the COC Orchestra.

Dame Patricia Routledge Passes Away

Famed actress Dame Patricia Routledge has passed away.

Dame Patricia was born February 17th, 1929 in Tranmere in Birkenhead, Cheshire. She would earn a degree in English Language and Literature with honours from the University of Liverpool before going into acting with the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.

She would start out in the theatre appearing in a number of productions in New York and London, including Richard III, Little Mary Sunshine, Cowardy Custard, Virtue in Danger, Noises Off, The Importance of Being Earnest, and The Solid Gold Cadillac.

Dr. Jane Goodall Passes Away

Famed anthropologist, primatologist, and zoologist Jane Goodall has passed away.

Dr. Goodall was born Valerie Jane Morris-Goodall on April 3rd, 1934 in London, England. She was given a stuffed chimpanzee as a child which developed her interest in animals.

She would receive a Doctor of Philosophy degree in ethology from Darwin College, Cambridge in 1966.

Toronto Blue Jays Win American League East Division Title

Congratulations to the Toronto Blue Jays who have won their seventh American League East Division Title with a 14-3 win over the Tampa Bay Rays at home today.

The Blue Jays will now make their 11th postseason appearance with their seven American League East Division Titles (1985, 1989, 1991, 1992, 1993, 2015, 2025) and four wild card appearances (2016, 2020, 2022, 2023) plus their two American League Pennants and two World Series wins (1992, 1993.)

CFL Rule Changes

The Canadian Football League (CFL) has announced a number of changes to the rules for the game over the upcoming years.

For me, I totally disagree with these changes as they make the game more ‘Americanized’ and seems to be a start for the game to be more like the National Football League (NFL) rather than as a league of its’ own.
