Toronto Ferry Action – July 22nd, 2021

I made a quick trip over to the Toronto Islands on July 22nd, 2021.

While on the trip I was able to catch some video and photographs.

The Toronto Ferry Services, which operates the ferries and is owned by the City of Toronto, owns five ferries: The Trillium, The Thomas Rennie, the Sam McBride, the William M. Inglis (W.M. Inglis), and The Ongiara. The Ongiara is the only ferry that can carry vehicles, used by the city to maintain the islands. The Trillium is now 111 years old and a paddlewheeler – it only occasionally used, and normally for charters.

Happy 154th Birthday, Dominion of Canada

July 1st, 2021 marks the 154th birthday for the Dominion of Canada since Confederation on July 1st, 1867.

Confederation was created thanks to the hard work of many people, and helped to create the Canada we know today.

Euro 2020 Quarterfinals Set

2021 Stanley Cup Finals: Montreal Canadiens vs. Tampa Bay Lightning

The 2021 Stanley Cup Finals start tonight in Tampa Bay as the Tampa Bay Lightning look to successfully defend their championship after winning the ‘Holy Grail’ of hockey last year, while the Montreal Canadiens make their first appearance in the Finals since winning the Cup back in 1993.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the NHL season was changed so that all seven Canadian based teams could play in their own division for the entire season, plus the first two rounds of the playoffs.

2020 Euro Cup Knockout Stages

The Round of 16 has now been set for the 2020 Euro Cup.

The knockout stage starts on June 26th, 2021.

The Euro Cup was delayed one year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Exhibition Grounds

I went for a walk through the Exhibition grounds on June 16th 2021 while in the area for another project.

I was able to pick up some photographs of some of the buildings on the property that are currently, or previously, used by the Canadian National Exhibition, plus Princess Margaret’s Fountain.

Happy Victoria Day

Today, May 24th 2021, is Victoria Day in Canada. I want to wish every Canadian a very happy and safe Victoria Day.

Today marks the celebration of the birthday of Canada’s first monarch, Queen Victoria, who reigned from 1837 to 1901 and was Monarch when four British colonies – Canada West (Ontario), Canada East (Quebec), New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia – were combined together to create the Dominion of Canada.

Queen Victoria would see Canada grow rapidly, with the purchase of Rupert’s Land to form the Northwest Territory, as well Manitoba, British Columbia, and Prince Edward Island all joining Confederation.
