
The second round of the 2024 NHL Playoffs are now set.
In the first round, two series went the full seven games (Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Boston Bruins and the Dallas Stars vs. Vegas Golden Knights.)
One one team swept their opponents in the first round: The New York Rangers defeated the Washington Capitals in four games.
Two Canadian teams remain in the playoffs, the Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks. The teams will meet up in this round.
Two ‘Original Six’ teams remain in the playoffs: the Boston Bruins and New York Rangers.
The following teams meet up in this round of the playoffs:
Eastern Conference
Boston Bruins vs. Florida Panthers
This is the third time these two teams have met in the playoffs. The Panthers won both times – in 1996 and last year (2023.)
The Bruins beat the Maple Leafs in seven games, while the Panthers beat the Lightning.
Look for the Panthers to win in six games.
Carolina Hurricanes vs. the New York Rangers
The Rangers won two out of the three games during the regular season. This is the third meeting between the two teams in the playoffs with both teams winning one series – and the Rangers won their last meeting back in 2022.
The Hurricanes beat the Islanders in five games while the Rangers beat the Capitals in four games.
Look for the Rangers to win in five games.
Western Conference
Colorado Avalanche vs. Dallas Stars
The Avalanche won three of the four games during the regular season. This is the sixth meeting between the two teams in the playoffs, with the Stars winning three of the previous five meetings.
The Avalanche beat the Jets in five games. The Stars beat the Golden Knights in seven games.
Look for the Avalanche to win in six games.
Edmonton Oilers vs. Vancouver Canucks
The Canucks won all four regular season games this year. This is the third time that the two teams have met in the playoffs. Edmonton won both previous series, but the last time was in 1992.
The Oilers beat the Los Angeles Kings in five games while the Canucks beat the Predators in six.
Look for the Canucks to win in seven games.
