The 2019 World Series, 115th series, is set to start tonight in Houston. Let’s look into the series:
The series features National League (NL) Pennant winners the Washington Nationals facing off against the American League (AL) Pennant winners the Houston Astros.
This is this first ever postseason meeting between the two teams, despite the Astros playing in the NL until the end of the 2012 season.
The Astros are looking to win their second World Series in three years. This is their third appearance after 2005 and 2017. This is the Nationals first appearance in the World Series, either as the Montreal Expos or as the Nationals.
The Astros beat the New York Yankess in six games, while the Nationals swept the St. Louis Cardinals in four games.
This is also the second time in World Series history that two expansion era (i.e. post 1960’s) teams have face off in the World Series – the other being in 2015 between the Kansas City Royals and New York Mets.
Look for the Astros to win in six close games.
