For three consecutive weekends starting on the weekend of February 15, 2020, the TTC was short turning the 501 Queen service west of Humber Loop at Kipling Loop. This is being done to allow the City of Toronto to do some work on the sidewalk on Lake Shore Blvd. W. at Long Branch Loop.

Former Toronto Blue Jay shortstop Tony Fernández has passed away at the age of 57. He played for the Blue Jays in four different stints: from 1983-1990, 1993, from 1998-1999, and finally in 2001, winning the World series with the Blue Jays in 1993.
Mr. Fernández was born Octavio Antonio Fernández Castro San Pedro de Macorís, Dominican Republic. Continue reading
February 15th, 2020 marks the 55th anniversary of Canada adopting the Maple Leaf as Canada’s official flag.

Famed opera Soprano Mirella Freni has passed away at the age of 84.
Ms. Freni was born on February 27th, 1935 in Modena, Italy. She was born in the same city, just months before, as tenor Luciano Pavarotti, who would be a long time friend and colleague. Continue reading

Today marks the 66th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth’s ascension as Queen of Canada, the United Kingdom, and 14 other nations. She is also the head of the Commonwealth of Nations.
Queen Elizabeth ascended the throne of Canada when her father, King George VI passed away in the early hours of February 6th, 1952. Prior to this date, she was the Heir Presumptive to the crown. Continue reading
Famed Hollywood actor Kirk Douglas has passed away at the age of 103 from natural causes. He was one of the last remaining actors from Hollywood’s Golden Age.
Mr. Douglas, born Issur Danielovitch Demsky on December 9th, 1916 in Amsterdam, New York. He would change his name just before enlisting in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He would be medically discharged in 1944 after an accidental dropping of a depth charge, and was a Lieutenant when he was discharged. Continue reading

The board advised that it has made up for the overcharge by increasing the corporation’s operating account by $40,000. Gerry Hyman has another article for the Toronto Star. Let’s discuss two of the questions raised:
QUESTION: Owners of 12 of the 32 units in our condominium requested — in writing — that there be a meeting to discuss the obligations of the unit owners. The corporation’s president advised: “It’s not going to happen,” and she said that if we insisted, she would disband the board. Can she refuse the requested meeting? And could she disband the board?
2019 has now finished, and we have entered 2020. As such, let’s take a look at what happened in 2019:
In January, famed opera Bass-Baritone Theo Adam passed away at the age of 92. While the late Roy Halladay was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame. The United States Justice Department also brought charges against Chinese based Huawei. This increased tensions between the two countries with Canada becoming involved when they were asked to detain an executive from the company. Continue reading
