End of an Era for the Kansas City Chiefs?

There was big news on Sunday December 14th, 2025 for the National Football League (NFL). On Sunday, not only did Kansas City Chiefs Quarterback Patrick Mahomes suffer a season ending injury (torn ACL), the Chiefs were officially eliminated from playoff contention.

However, the Chiefs entered the season as the hottest team in the NFL with their own dynasty thanks to Patrick Mahomes and Head Coach Andy Reid.

The Chiefs entered the season with the following:

  • 10 straight playoff appearances
  • 9 Straight AFC West Division Titles
  • 7 Straight AFC Championship Games
  • 5 Straight AFC Titles
  • 5 Straight Super Bowl Appearances
  • 3 Super Bowl Titles, including back-to-back titles in 2022 and 2023.

This streak is now over this year. However, depending on when Patrick Mahomes returns next year, there is always the possibility of a playoff appearance as a wild card team. However, the streak is now over.
