Graham Greene Passes Away at 73

Famed Canadian actor Graham Greene has passed away at 73.

Born June 22nd, 1952 on the Six Nations Reserve, in Ohsweken, Ontario, he would grow up in Hamilton and worked as a draftsman, civil technologist, steelworker, and rock-band crew member before turning to acting.

Mr. Greene would come to international attention in 1990 as Kicking Bird in Dances With Wolves alongside Kevin Costner. He would Best Supporting Actor nomination for the role at the Academy Awards.

He would go onto star in a number of other movies, including Thunderheart, Maverick, Die Hard with a Vengeance, The Green Mile, Skins, Transamerica, Casino Jack, Winter’s Tale, The Shack, and Wind River.

He would have a staring role in the television series Spirit Bay, which depicted the lives and culture of First Nations members. He would appear in other series including Northern Exposure, The Adventures of Dudley the Dragon, and The Red Green Show. He was also a guest star on Royal Canadian Air Farce.

For four years, Mr. Greene narrated the documentary series, Exhibit A: Secrets of Forensic Science.

During his career, Mr. Greene would win awards at the Gemini Awards, Grammy Awards, and the Governor General’s Performing Arts Award.

Mr. Greene was appointed a member of the Order of Canada in 2015.

He died September 1st, 2025 at the age of 73 at his home in Stratford, Ontario.
