‘Hulk Hogan’ Passes Away at 71

Famed wrestler Terry Bollea, known professionally as ‘Hulk Hogan‘ has passed away following a cardiac arrest.

He was born Terry Bollea on August 11th, 1953 in Augusta, Georgia to Pietro “Peter” and Ruth V. Bollea.

Hogan began wrestling in 1977, but came to fame in 1983 when he joined (for the second time) with the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) – now the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE.) He would go on to win five Heavyweight Championships, one two consecutive Royal Rumble matches, and would headline eight of the first nine Wrestlemania events until in left in 1993 to concentrate on making movies and television. His first title reign would last 1,474 days, including winning his match at Wrestlemania III vs. André the Giant.

In 1994, he would sign with World Championship Wrestling (WCW.) He would win the WCW Heavyweight Title six times and had the longest reign in their company’s history at 469 days.

In 1996, he would join Kevin Nash and Scott Hall (known as ‘The Outsiders‘) to create their own wrestling faction, the New World Order (nWo).

In 2002, Hogan would re-join the WWF, along with Nash and Hall. He would headline WrestleMania X8 vs. The Rock. He would win the WWF Title for a sixth time, and during the reign the company would rebrand as the WWE, thus making Hogan the last wrestler to be referred to as the WWF Champion and the first to be referred to as the WWE Chmapion.

He would be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005.

He would find some controversy in 2012 when a tape was released of him making racist remarks and for which he would file a lawsuit over.

He was married twice – first two Linda Claridge (with whom he had two children: Brooke, and Nick) and then to Jennifer McDaniel.

Hogan would suffer from a cardiac arrest on July 24th, 2025 at his home in Clearwater, Florida, and would pass away upon his arrival at hospital.
