Former two time heavyweight boxing champion George Foreman has passed away at 76.
Mr. Foreman was born George Edward Foreman on January 10th, 1949 in Marshall, Texas.

He would win the Gold Medal as a heavyweight in the 1968 Summer Olympics before turning professional in 1969.
Mr. Foreman defeated Joe Frazier in 1973 to win the heavyweight title. The next year, Mr. Foreman lost the title to Muhammad Ali in the Rumble in the Jungle. He would retire, for the first time, in 1977.
He would make a comeback in the early 1990s, winning the unified WBA, IBF, and lineal heavyweight championship titles in 1994 by defeating Michael Moorer. He would soon forfeit the WBA Title as he would have had to defend it soon after the bout with Mr. Moorer. At the end of June 1995, he relinquished the IBF Title too.
Mr. Foreman was the oldest person to hold the heavyweight title at 46 years and 169 days old.
He would be inducted into both the World Boxing Hall of Fame and International Boxing Hall of Fame. He received the James V. Day “Good Guy” Award from the American Legion in 2013.
He would ultimately retire after 81 professional fights with a record of 76-5, with 68 of his 76 wins coming via knockout.
Following his second retirement from boxing, Mr. Foreman became an entrepreneur, becoming known for promoting the George Foreman Grill.
Mr. Foreman was married four times and had 12 children.
Mr. Foreman died peacefully at home, in Houston, Texas, on March 21st, 2025.
