Norman Lear Passes Away at 101

Famed television producer Norman Lear passed away this week at 101.

Mr. Lear was well known as the producer of a number of hit TV shows, including All in the Family, Maude, Sanford and Son, One Day at a Time, The Jeffersons, and Good Times.

Mr. Lear’s shows would bring up political and social themes that were very much front and centre at the time and still are in many cases, including racism, abortion, rape, the Vietnam War, etc.

For his work, he would receive six Emmy Awards, two Peabody Awards, the National Medal of Arts, A Kennedy Center Award, and the Golden Globe Carol Burnett Award.

He also founded the People for the American Way organization.

Mr. Lear was born in New Haven, Connecticut on July 27, 1922 to Hyman and Jeanette Lear and served in the United States Air Force during World War II.

He was married three times, divorcing his first two wives and is survived by his third wife, Lyn Davis.

He passed away on December 5th, 2023 at home in Los Angeles.
