VIA Historical Association Cars on Display

On June 15th and 16th, 2022, the VIA Historical Association (VHA) had two of its’ cars on display the at TRACCS Rail Event at the Toronto Maintenance Centre.

The VHA is a not-for-profit organization aimed at preserving equipment operated by VIA Rail Canada, the Crown Corporation that provides rail service across Canada.

On display were:

Budd RDC #6133. This car was originally assigned to the Canadian Pacific Railway’s (CPR) subsidiary Dominion Atlantic Railway as #9068. It was then operated by the CPR as #9068 until the late 1970’s when the car was transferred to VIA Rail Canada. It would operate until its’ retirement from VIA Rail in 2012.

Also on display was 4-8-4 sleeper ‘Edmunston’. The car was built in 1954 for the Canadian National Railway (CNR) and was transferred to VIA Rail in the late 1970s. The car would remain in service for VIA Rail until April 1996.

‘Edmunston’ was not open to visitors, however people could look inside #6133:
